WORKING PLAN FOR THE FOREST OF EAST GODAVARI DISTRICT

1991-1992 TO 2005-2006 *

As seen from the above, on an average there are 27 trees included under the working circle. Keeping in view of the un-workability due to steep hills, perennial stream banks, uneven distribution of trees and allowing sufficient margin towards cull factor it is estimated that in the entire catchment earmarked for selection working, the number of available, useful trees (above 40 cms diameter over bark at Breast Height) will be 4 trees per Hectars. Adopting an average out turn of 1.25 cum/tree, each hectare will yield about 5.00 cum of ply timber. That is the estimation arrived by the previous Management plan party basing on the result of sample survey carried out by them.

As per the sample enumeration about 50% of the total No. of trees is Mango in Kota and its extension R. Fs and it form about 30% in Pullangi R.F. As the Mango is a M.F.P. yielding species and as there is some agitation forms the tribals net to fell Mango trees, the number of extractable trees per hectare on an average in Kota and Pullangi R.Fs. are 2.33 and 3.83 numbers. Giving allowance for inaccessibility and low density of plywood material it is considered safety to take on an average 2 trees per hs. in Kota R.F. giving 2.5 to 3 cum on an average 1.25 to 1.50 cum/tree) and 3 trees per Ha. in Pullangi R. F. giving around 4 cum per ha. on an average.

*High Court of A.P prohibited (W.P. 4882/95 dated.06-09-95) felling of trees without greeting prior permission from Govt. of India (MOEF).
