Bauxite will be exploited by strip mining. A power shovel bites into the forests, soils, laterite and bauxite, piling up rows of soil and laterite on one hand and bauxite ore on the other hand. in this process the Eastern ghats forest land will be land bare. It may produce stream fouling sediment. When the minings carried out on a length of 125km, and width of 15 km. the destruction of forest and soil is enormous. This results in destroying of entire preexisting ecosystem and habitat. The environmental devastation, to be produced by the strip mining of bauxite in Eastern Ghats is expected to exceed in quantity and intensity any other form of man made land destruction.

The bauxite supply agreement shall be entered into with a stipulation that it shall be implemented till permission of the Govt. of India is obtained by GoAP / APMDC under section 2(ii) of Forest conservation Act 1980 and the environmental clearances for the bauxite mining project as per the directions of Hon’ble High Court of AP in WP. “… declaring the inaction of the respondent authorities in resorting to diversion of forest area 1212 Hectares in Chintapalli and Jerrila blocks of Narsipatnam forest division Vishakapatnam district in GK Veedhi and Chintapalli mandals as illegal and unconstitutional and consequently set aside the proceedings of Respondent No.1 F.No: 8-91/2007-FC Dt: 07-08-2015 and consequential GO 97 and 05-11-2015 by Respondent 2 after making it clear that with out recognizing notifying the community rights of Tribal communities under the Scheduled Tribes and other traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act, 2006 read with the PESA Act, rules no proposal for diversion of forest land can be entertained. ”
